Learning objectives

The main purpose of the course is to consolidate the concepts of descriptive statistics and statistical inference with applications in Medicine.

Through the careful use of the SPSS statistical package, many different groups (datasets) of medical data are analyzed and multiple correlations and interdependencies between variables are investigated.

The objective of the course is for students to be able to understand the appropriate statistical tests for all types of medical data, to perform quality control of variables using the appropriate methodology depending on the quality and format of the data, and to apply statistical inference.

  • Methods for dependent binomial categorical data
  • Confounding factors and effect modifiers,
  • Ways to neutralize or inactivate confounding factors,
  • Simple and multiple regression
  • Introduction to logistic regression
